not just doors...GREAT DOORS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With changes to insulation ratings, what entrance doors would you suggest?
The highest tested insulated entrance door in NZ is the Fibrewood and Hi-Insul

Do you have double glazed doors?
All our glazing options in Fibrewood and Hi Insul are double glazed

Do you offer single glazing?
With changes in insulation ratings, we have opted to only provide double glazing

What is the difference between solid core and solid joinery doors?
A solid joinery door means that piece of timber you are looking on either side of the door is the same piece of timber all the way through. With a solid core door this is not the case, there is another commidity between the two faces.

What do you do to prevent bowing and cupping to Western Red Cedar doors?
An internal 25mm galavnised pipe is fitted approximately 300 to 350mm from the top and bottom of the door to reduce cupping and bowing. Remember, doors still have to be sealed.

If I want to buy a large number of doors can I buy them straight from you?
No, but send an email to sales@plantation or give Nick Craig a ring on 021 324 757 to discuss options.

You have a warranty variance from 5 to 10 years, does that cover the finish as well?
The warranty covers only the construction of the door. Any finish is covered by the manufacturer materials or of the finish you have chosen.

Do I need to seal a door?
All wooden doors have to be sealed on all 6 sides, then a second coat should be applied to stop any moisture entering the doors within 14 days. A lot of people do all 4 sides but forget to do the top and can’t get at the bottom if it is already hung. Sealing should be done prior to hanging otherwise the door should be removed from the hinges and the bottom sealed.

What about painting?
All wooden doors must be primed on all 6 sides. Remember wooden doors should only be finished in light colours not dark colours.

What areas will my warranty not cover?
This warranty will be void if any one of the following exceptions is detected:

  1. The door is not primed or sealed on all six surfaces and cut outs immediately after unpacking and prior to hanging.
  2. The door is not finished with 14 days of unpacking and hanging.
  3. The door has been finished with an oil product.
  4. The door has been finished in dark colours.
  5. The door is not in a weather protected area or is subject to undue exposure to direct weather or sunlight prior to claim.
  6. The door has been worked on, structurally altered or damaged when hanging or trimmed in excess of 10mm on any edge.
  7. Doors have not been stored dry and flat prior to hanging.
  8. The door has been finished in a manner inconsistent with the manufacturers recommendations stated herein, or
  9. The problem is a result of deterioration of the paint or varnish at any time during the term of this warranty.
